We have two small black barn cats we inherited with our property. They are said to be good natured and they have started coming closer to us. There is the groundhog we've seen that I mentioned last week. With the help of binoculars and google, we are pretty sure on that ID. Then my husband has seen a "golden cat" on the property. Not for sure if it's an actual cat or not. Now we've seen another very large black "cat". Not enough sightings to confirm if it is an actual cat or not. (Too fast for binocs so far.) Hubby has seen it multiple times in daylight, from a distance, in the area the groundhog inhabitats. It moves quickly, and cat-like, but is much larger than our intended barn cats. Hubby got nervous when I mentioned fisher and he looked that up - but it's out and about in the day, and has probably a smoother gait than a fisher. I think I startled the same animal when I went out the other day. One of my dogs was in the small fenced area next to the driveway, and the "cat" was on the other side of my car from the dog. It bolted like a shot, so fast I couldn't get a look at it, except it seemed like it had a cat tail. I'm hoping that whatever animals are on the property aren't too dangerous, since the small barn cats seem to have gotten on alright. Our dogs are big, but they are also vulnerable due to their age and one of them being nearly deaf, plus being contained in this small fenced area. We should have better fencing within a month. We'll definitely have to sort out what animals are regularly creeping about before adding birds...
Edit: My dogs are not out all the time - just house dogs, but one likes to hang out outside for up to an hour by herself.
