Surviving Minnesota!

I have to admit, Autumn is my favorite season. LOVE chilly mornings drinking coffee, watching the world wake up all around me. But I just feel so unprepared this year. Just too much going on and too much to do still and whamo!! the leaves are changing and the birds are leaving and garden is dying off.

Good Morning All!
Daughter survived day one of 7th grade.....aka the big school....the shared middle school/high school.

Many of my chickens have started molting and boy do they look skinny and ragged! Time to up the protein. Anyone for some game bird feed top dressed with mealworms.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . .
Today is suppose to be the day eight layers go to live elsewhere. Silly me - I will miss them but the number of chickens will be nice. LOL. My egg production has dropped dramatically so I may not have to give up one egg after this. I will have 16 birds left and two of those are roos. They are separated into two different coops; Big coop and small coop.
My granddaughter named the newest chick when she visited last week. Her name is Shimmers. Something to do with a t.v. show named Shine and Shimmers. I like it.
BC - been tracking you - - - are you getting any rest yet? and How is your Dad doing? Of course your family helped your Mom with the mowing and I bet your Dad will appreciate the help on the garage.
All the hard work around here this summer is starting to pay off. I am so glad I took one year off of the garden. I can't wait to plant one next spring! So I will be following this thread more consistently with a little less work to be completed.

I have always liked spring. The runoff, following those tiny rivulets as kids, ending up down at the lake... lol. The early spring colors of greens. And now the rooster with a new air of self importance and sense of responsibility. You can see it in them every spring as soon as they can walk outside the run.
As I get older though I do like fall for what it is. But I must say when those north winds drive the leaves off the trees I don't care for that and freezing rains making slippery roads.
As I get older I appreciate all the seasons, actually.

I should be asleep. But perhaps I'm burning exhaust yet.

Dear Dad came out of surgery the same way he went in. Telling nurses Bad jokes. Lord help us. Lol. 2 tumors removed successfully from the brain. Neurosurgeon had a personality like a bowl of oatmeal but as long as he did a good job I guess I'm good with him. Wait on pathology next but he said they looked like renal cell mets. Poop.
Thanks all for good vibes. Still needing them. Little worried this might have been the easy part.

Jerry that fine cockerel is gone. I think FIL missed locking him in last weekend. I know you liked him.... sorry...
tomorrow I take DD to her job. Then I go learn about resonant light technology.

DS and DH golfing to win us those 3rd base twins tickets again. Go boys!

Nighty night my good chicken people. Xoxo
:hugs glad he came through surgery well, prayers that he continues to improve and heal quickly

Hello all

I am alive but not doing great.

I am glad your Dad's surgery went well BC.

Things are just piling up here. We were going to Togo with the kids this coming week. We are not sure we can do that now.

I have to much I have not gotten done here. I find I can only work an hour or so a day, barely enough time to feed the birds.

Getting older is not fun. I hope to go out and sit with Cuddles for a while today and see how the rest are doing.

TTYl.
:hugs rest Ralphie, take care of yourself

Yep... Finally, some nice working weather. :wee
:smack

Goodmorning... Got home from state two days ago... My Cockerel hurt his leg so I got placed with a red.. Over half the birds got reds and there was some really solid birds there that would be a great start for anyones breeding program.
