Surviving Minnesota!

And another young one out of an almost Black EE and a Buckeye Rooster. I'm confused as to why he is so white too.

I also took a few pics of this little CLBxBuckeye chick that I love. I am confused as to why he is sooo white but it must be from the CLB?

This one is harder to explain but I will give it a try . So CLB is light brown with creme . So the buckeye pattern altered some by wild type . I have speculated but not taken the time to prove silver is in some CLB . So perhaps silver turned this into a light golden duckwing pattern . Pattern affected by buckeye . I see some red in this one . Creme is supposed to be recessive so silver must be involved .

I enjoy this thread very much. Just reading and watching I've learned ao much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Still no eggs here. I've noticed the birds are spending more time in the coop during the day rather than under it. Anything to that?

Also I found a home for my big mystery rooster from my January hatch! A friends Dad from 4H asked if I had any roosters and I have probably 7 extras to get rid of! But I decided to send him with this guy. I sure am gonna miss him. He is a monster of a rooster and if I had room I would have kept him for myself!

Our dog Foxy had an accident today... She decided to go lay under a running vehicle and one of her back legs got ran over... She will be fine but the leg has to be amputated... Such a young dog who has a long life ahead of her and she will have to do it on 3 legs... The vet figured we could try screws and plates for the broken bones but he said that it is most likely not going to work because of bone shards... So he said amputation is best unless we want to risk a $2000 surgery... They kept her at the office tonight and will get to her surgery in the morning. They couldn't do the surgery tonight because they wanted to make sure she was stable... We are crossing our fingers that nothing goes wrong over night... We already lost one dog this year and really don't want to lose another...

Oh boy holm. Sorry to hear the pup will be 3 legged but they do seem to learn it very well from a friend's dog I know. Living to be a ripe old age on 3 .
Today I helped mom put down their 17 year old daschund. Too much work for grandma coming up and a dog making messes on the floors. It was time. Sad day for her. I had to come - hold the dog and bury her as mom couldn't do it.
Dad Transferred to nursing home near by until that swelling gets down. Probably only 2-3 days then he'll be home.
Uffdah another big day of running and chasing. Tired tonight...
Goodnight.
