Surviving Minnesota!

So how good are chickens at finding their way home? The chicks are getting quite adventurous lately and we have a large property surrounded on three sides by a corn field. I'm afraid they might have taken a tour of the corn field as I haven't seen them in quite some time and they didn't come out of hiding when I walked around calling for them and shaking my can of sunflower seeds. My husband suggested I take up the drone and look for them but I'm afraid the corn is mighty tall and we wouldn't be able to see down to chicken level too well.

I hope they find their way home, how old are they?
I'd keep going out and shake the seeds and call for them.

They're 11.5 weeks old. They seem to find their way back most other times, the food and water and all that is in the coop so the door is open for them during the day and there's some scraps outside the coop in my feeble attempt to get them to stick around town.

I have to go out and feed horses in a while anyway so I'm going to take the golf cart around to at least one other side of the corn field and see if they made their way through or what.

Goofy birds, this free ranging is not for the faint of heart.
