Surviving Minnesota!

I let my EEs, yoki and Appletini from you out in the big coop... I was feeling bad keeping them locked up so I let them out and they did just fine. They don't really leave the coop though...

I think I am gonna do a coop clean up this weekend. Scrape it all out and scrub down everything with bleach. As MNchickmom said it is a chicken keepers best friend! Then I am gonna go through and treat all my birds with Ivermectin. There is so many dang sparrows around right now I am sure my birds are picking up mites from them :he:mad:.

If any of you ever have mite issues just use ivermectin. Two days and your birds will be free of mites. You can get injectable or stuff you put on the skin. I just use put a drop on the tail head and one drop under each wing and it works wonders. It absorbs through the skin and into the blood stream and kills all mites or lice and stays in them for quite awhile. But you do have to wear gloves when applying this stuff and discard any eggs for around 2 weeks..
