You want to pick them before the cap separates from the stalk. Cut them in half lengthwise, dip in batter and fry. They do not keep well since they are a variety of Inky Cap but are delicious prepared shortly after picking.

Dad picked up a ton of rolled or cracked corn yesterday. I can't remember, when he told me I had just gotten out of the shower and was outside so I was to busy being cold. I guess I will find out in 10 minutes. I think he said it was something like $163. If you would just buy 40# bags it would cost around $550 so, if you can get a supersack and have a place to put it I highly reccomend you do this.
Game day today! We play Beulah. I play first set of JV all around, they have had a few kids quit, and coach wants me to play as much as possible, so all 6 sets that I can. That is if varsity was to go to 5 sets. Then I play all sets in varsity, it should only be 3, only front row. Should be a fun game as at tournaments we have easily beat them every time

Wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the chicks this morning in recent light of the fox in the henhouse. So I wandered back there just to see what's what and the stupid fox was under the coop. Even stupider me did not have the rifle. So the chicks are staying in today and the rifle is loaded and ready. I guess I'm on guard duty today. That fox is not afraid of people, it barely trotted away when it saw me so I suspect it'll be back sooner than later.
