Surviving Minnesota!

A couple of recent pics. My cockerel. Other than his crooked toe, are there any big issues from a culling standpoint? Curious if I should be planning on keeping him or if I should hope for a replacement this spring.

This girl has these white marks on her head. Anything I should be concerned about? Maybe just dirty?

Omg she is never going hunting accompanied by her father again. My mom sent these 2 pictures. View attachment 1185188been removed pile.View attachment 1185189 left to conquer.
No word if she shot anything just the above pictures. Not a happy momma...especially one who is sitting at home sick over deer hunting.
This does not look fun. I am not looking forward to a teenage daughter.

I think that Cockerel looks great!

The hen/pullet is just molting!

I was off for a couple days and it took some time to read all the new posts.
Holms, what is the story on the track ? The cows were concerned about something that alarmed them. Perhaps cougar ?
A couple winters back I had two deer killed in my yard. Not on the same night. The predator did it in a way that their tracks were not discovered. Once during a snow storm.
Whatever did it pulled them into a hiding area and came back to feed on them. Too stealthy to be a wolf I think.
BC, those birds look very nice. Layers, your have a lot of feathers and would be a good breed for those who wished to produce feather pillows.
Ralphie, I think those cats had a highway warranty. When they reached the highway which leaves from Holms farmstead the warranty expired.

Layers, I hope you hold out for a big Muley buck, and send us a photo when you bag him.

ILL dont you love Cochins? I brought a bunch of birds out for pictures since we actually had a nice sunny day. I prefer the buffs but the blues and blacks are just as pretty!

Here is pics of the buff pair and then pics of a pair of Dark Cornish.

Here is some pictures of some retainment heifers. I will have to take the ambers out and get good pics of them be says who phone pictures dont show the depth and thickness these calves have. They are in the 600 lbs range so they are bigger than picture make them look! All in all we are extremely happy with the calf crop this year. Great calves considering all the pasture we had. We will be weaning and preg checking on Wednesday and hauling calves to the sales barn the first week in December.
