Surviving Minnesota!

Good day everyone!
@holm25 I would think extending their light by 4 hours would be enough to get them laying more :) Good luck with your Dom eggs!

I had a Silkie Pullet lay for the second time since Hutch yesterday and I'm worried she is going to prolapse. She has a red "ball" that sticks out when I went to AI them today... it only sticks out when I AI them but goes back in shortly after I am done. Is there anyway to prevent it from coming out and staying out? With cows we would just stitch it up but that wouldn't work lol...
The only thing i've heard you can do to avoid prolapse is to put them in a dark place for a few days to keep them from laying until they heal, and some put preparation H in the area to reduce swelling.

A fridged 34 here in Memphis. Just got in from running my hound puppy. I know I'm wimpy...but that's quite chilly for us....
I think I may retire in Tennessee...

@memphis , your puppy is adorable. I had a lab/springer mix that always had the saddest face, even when he was happy! everyone always felt sorry for him, lol I'll try and find a photo...

@duluthralphie maybe you should pick up some Jubilee Opringtons and let me know about their temperament...

If you want temperament you want Speckled Sussex. They are naturally friendly birds. or at least mine are. When I enter there pen I have to be careful to not step on them they all are underfoot and waiting to be held.

I am even thinking of pulling a Jerry and making a rose-comb or cushion comb SS. I think I could have them in 3 generations or 4..

Sunny here . Waiting for it to warm up a bit before I go out . Maybe I can get something done . Got about a hour + yesterday . Just yard cleanup . Taking it easy on the knee . Doing good but improvement is slow and steady . Just like they said .Really wanted to do more yesterday but it got cloudy and I lost interest .

Found some bear photos... puppy and adult. so sad :hit:hitlol I sure do miss him though.
