Surviving Minnesota!

The little scrawny pullet I said I thought would die when we hit 20 below....Died..

I think the rest will be fine. But one never knows, one could surprize me and wake up dead...

Frozen eggs here today. I think I saw the stupid black dog eating and egg. I could not tell for sure. When I told her to drop it..she swallowed whatever it was fast....So much for all the training spent on her.

I did get two eggs from the outdoor toads today. The first in a month. Both were froze solid and cracked.

Good afternoon everyone... Last night when I walked out to the coop it was only two degrees in there (which felt super warm) and I still have zero frostbite and I quit the Vaseline about a week ago after I saw what it did to my gloves (destroy them and put holes in them) and I still haven't had any issues.
Destroyed your gloves? Elaborate.

Even my PC cockerel with tiny wattles (Carey, for those that remember my birds) now has frostbite. I am thinking there is either ventilation or draft issues because all the other years in my old coop never gave me such a headache with it as I'm having this year. I would get pictures as proof but I do not feel like freezing my camera insides.
