Surviving Minnesota!

-13...that would kill everyone of us down here. It's colder than usual here too. We may even get snow flurries New Years Eve. FLURRIES...mind you....and that was the big story on our morning news.
My turkeys however seem not to mind....they are dancing around. They sure enjoy the colder weather much more than our horrid summer heat. The chickens look annoyed.

Erli we have a yeti cooler and got it pulled out the onto the deck. So on and so forth. We also have an old bar fridge down stairs that was put to the test. Put my condiments/ fruits and vegetables down there. Meat cheeses milk, cheese dairy in the yetis. They can take a little extra cold. Milk and Clamato got a little slushy one day. But those type of coolers are good for keeping food cold and for keeping it from totally freezing too. Impressed!

Sorry I would still not like going to the deck anytime I needed something from the 'fridge' in this weather. I prefer a power outage in the summer

Layers the sledding sounds like so much fun. I might get my kids out to do that this weekend. We have a little hill. But it's still fun.

DH while plowing saw a smaller fox (smaller than the one we shot) . It chased down our little drive way and then into the woods. Sure enough a paw print by the chute access door between the coop and run. Being that the birds are cooped for a couple more days I feel better but jeez these things are thick this year. Sadie tore out a couple times like a mad woman dog last night. I'll let her keep going if she wants. Feel better for the run enforcements though and will make another assessment here this weekend and look over. No need to lose all my birds. Every bird in my coop is desirable. They all lay eggs (no maturity issues) and the one rooster left is a good one except swollen wattles. Which will be winter dubbed after this year. So he'll be set. I want to keep everybody I got.... A perfect 9.
