You wouldn't want a mulberry tree anyway. The wild birds (especially robins) gorge themselves on them in the summer and then dive bomb your house your car your lawn furniture and everything else they can possibly poop on that they can stain and splatter with purple poop.I agree with Erlibrd..View attachment 1253344
I have never seen a Mulberry bush/tree. I see they grow in zone 4, but I am more into 3 than 4. I can get a few zone 4 things to grow for a few years, then a winter like this kills them off.
I think I need to burn more tires and inner tubes to speed up global warming before I could grow them. I am going to ask my Brother-in-Law who farms by Rochester, they have a better growing season that us.
This is all true . I still like them . I have ate them since I was a kid . I have some trees near the chickens . Chickens love them . Groundhogs climb trees to get the berries . Squirrels , chipmunks , raccoon and opossum all eat them . I admit very few people want them around due to the staining .You wouldn't want a mulberry tree anyway. The wild birds (especially robins) gorge themselves on them in the summer and then dive bomb your house your car your lawn furniture and everything else they can possibly poop on that they can stain and splatter with purple poop.

They dig burrows . Many people are surprised they can climb . I have seen them in trees eating buds before things green up good . They normally wakeup in mid March here . Chasing and breeding are the first things they do . Greenery can be scarce in March .Why are they called ground hogs if they climb trees
I've never seen them in trees, but I did have one climb up my leg once...They dig burrows . Many people are surprised they can climb . Hear, hear!! I would have Silver Ameraucanas cooking already but I haven't seen a single egg from them since I got them last fall/winter... and the cock doesn't mate much at all, he's too scared after the lead cock whupped him up... I think I will move them to the goat shed.I forgot to mention that I saw my Buff Irpington breed for the first time day before last and he has been a lot more rambunctious so breeding season is almost here. I can’t get any fertile eggs to save my life and I’m considering throwing my hands up for the 4H poultry showThis darn weather is a pain the butt!

I just checked the basement.......It appears I have about a half a dozen or so, non-green legged partridge chanticlers living down there. One CLB rooster that is looking pretty decent and a ton of SS. I have a couple doms and CLB pullets..
January may not have been as bleak as I thought..
Fingers crossed I am right...View attachment 1253607
