Surviving Minnesota!

I never had issues with Guineas abusing my chickens ? I know many have had that happen, but I guess mine are of a more well mannered strain of high culture ?
I have only one left, and he will be the last I think. I do appreciate the tick eradication and watching their antics, but they are very noisy and go into the road. The road issue is of primary concern in my suburban wilderness setting. I honestly believe all the noise is an attractant for predators as well.
Weather news here this AM. Season to date we are 15 inches less snow than last year, and last year was at long term average. Average temperature was about 9 degrees lower than last year and about 4 degrees lower than long term average.
Moral of the story is it has been a damn cold winter with a little less snow than average, but as the old saying goes " we aren't out of the woods yet".
At +10 and sunshine yesterday it seemed quite pleasant. Isn't that somewhat depressing in itself?
Ralphie, are you still in the political fray, or have you regained your sanity ?

EJB my Guineas from Ralphies birds were good but my feedstore white Guineas changed them all into monsters!

Speak to me of frozen chicken poop. Specifically that which is still attached to the fluff on the rear of the chicken. If it's just the drippings down the fluff and not obscuring the vent, is there any need to trim/wash? I was just out to let the chickens outside since it's not too windy and I noticed as a hen left the coop she had an egg stuck to the frozen poop on her rear. *sigh*

Hi again. I feel a bit awkward jumping into conversations every couple of months, but it is what it is. Just popping on to say high again. I'm starting to get chick fever and was bugging Duluth Ralphie the other day, asking him what he will have for chicks soon. This year I think I will do Speckled Sussex, more CLB, light and dark brahmas, blue cochins, blue laced red wyandotte... Not sure what else. I tend to impulse buy chicks and end up with way too many :D
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day. I'm about to put the little chicks of mine down for their naps and go out to do chores. Hopefully I don't have too many frozen/cracked eggs today, although my LGDs really are happy because they get them all!

Her egg color surprises me, especially in light of the color of egg Princess lays,,,

But she is stunning and a descendent of Ole, the rooster I got from EJB......most of his grandkids lay blue/green eggs.

I should have kept that one Holm......
