Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning! An especially hopeful one as that little chick had its first time “standing” since he arrived here on Wednesday.

Still needs support and that brace can’t come off, but the slipped tendon is starting to stretch so that I can bend his leg a bit more a couple times a day. Once I get the leg bent to a more natural bend I’ll leave it splinted and get it to try and walk. It’s a long shot but I have all weekend to try.

Morning 6° here. Yesterday Dickinson set a record of 0°, here we had -5° with a windchill of -25°. Our first track meet which would have been on Tuesday the 10 was postponed. I wish the snow would leave!
So far we have 8 bulls and 2 heifers I think. My younger sister and mom are headed to Glendive today to a rabbit show to pick up a Fawn Flemish Giant Doe, she was bred on Tuesday to another fawn buck who has many many BOB, and a few BOS awards! I am really excited to have some shows rabbits around here again

This is the doe

I took these 2 pictures yesterday while my dad and I were waiting for a calf to get done sucking for the first time so we could tag it

I’m on my way to take the step-kiddo to her first track meet. It’s a nice 10degrees. I’m quite jealous of the rabbit acquisitions as I think those Flemish are just too cool.

I always liked the Flemish Giants . Make nice crossed meat rabbits . I did not have good luck with the purebred but I would buy a pure buck for crosses . Just like hogs or cattle crosses make the best meat animals . A really great cross was Flemish x Champagne De Argent .
We have a about 6 rabbits that run around the yard that are 1/2 Flemish 1/2 French Lop that I want to cross with the purebred Flemish in the spring to sell as market rabbits
