Everyone cross your fingers. I’m in a Facebook contest for two dozen BCM eggs and it sounded like I might have a pretty good chance of winning![]()

From where? show or hatchery quality?
good luck!
I have (knock on wood) been lucky with the senior moment nights so far. I have one of those silly red blinking flashers made to keep predators away. Hopefully it actually works.
You must live in heavy coon area. I am more worried about fox, coyotes and owls.
It's January 90th .....![]()

Stringbean there is a couple right in your neighborhood who raise Marans and sell chicks and started birds I believe. the name has escaped me at the moment but that is what happens as one continues to approach the century mark.
Oh no. A serious deal Holm. Prayers for you all.Sitting in the hospital... My Great Grandma fell last night and broke her hip... At 94 that is quite a big deal...
I do believe you have a broody one! Eggs under her breast will keep her moving into those hormones. I have a broody Lavender Ameraucana. I'd love to put something under her.... But I like her eggs too.No, I'm not sure. She's just never acted like this before. Stayed in the box all day yesterday. Slept in the box last night. Yesterday just started squawking if anyone opens the box. View attachment 1329945
Roger my 'beloved' New Hampshire took a chunk out of my chin as I was holding him.erlibrd is in fact early today.
Related to the pecking of the hand, I once had a cockerel in an individual show pen and every time I would feed and water he would attack. He bloodied the back of my hand many times. He finally learned to go to a corner and wait til I was done.
A little warmer here this morning at 15 but high is forecast at only 37.
MNChickMom! Wait until they have their own cars. Right now...I'm looking around and see nobody in my house and my car is not burning gas 'just like that'... You won't know what to do with yourself...I'm telling you. hahahaMoving and marking Broody eggs......mmmm yeah good luck. My broodies have always had a certain amount spunk to them.....Maybe spunk is not the right word maybe .... killer agression is better suited for this situation. And whatever you do....do NOT wear Raspberry Red nailpolish on your fingers and expect to come out with your fingers intact.
This weekend was a whirlwind for us....First we started the weekend with a vehicle breakdown, then State Knowledge Bowl, then a trip to visit my Dad (who is recovering so-so from Total Knee Replacement). Yesterday my son graduated from Cub Scouts and earned his Arrow of Light. While attending the ceremony, we received a call from my husband's parents asking if we could do the evening chores (complete with bedding everyone) as Great Grandma is hospitalized with a heart problem and pnemonia. We are just finishing up with chores when the got home, only to find out they too are down a vehicle. So in typical 3 ring circus fashion we have played car jockey and everyone can get to where they need to go today. This has made me realize how dependent we are on transportation and how transient we have become as a society.
Chicks are doing well.....stupid Rhode Islands have stopped laying....just when I need them the most!
