Surviving Minnesota!

Today I ate a big piece of humble pie.

Me: “look look....my very first Toad 2.0 egg I’m so happy.”
@holm25 : “which lady laid it?”
Me: I don’t know let’s find out.
Holmes: “well it could be this lady there is a 4 finger width pubic bone or maybe it is this pullet ... 3 finger width” or maybe this one. After 4 birds we deducted that we will be going on an egg hunt and they will be locked up later in the morning. Oops
Yesterday our County did the annual show day, a bunch of older kids bring animals and younger kids sometimes bring theres and we teach the younger kids how to show. And checking the pubic bone was one of the things we taught them yesterday, it is a good skill to have!

I agree I have checked for egg laying before but never in the Toad pen because the parent stock took forever (6 -8 months) before they started laying so I never gave it a thought to check them.

And so ends the crow wing county journey until later this summer. Fun was had by all. Kids got to pet a large gray cat which was talked about for miles. @erlibrd found out that her ladies will become part of a local ministry program. On behalf of peace United methodist, and others who will benefit I thank you. May the lord bless your beautiful property for years to come. I got crazy looks at both the sonic drive in and a gas station. Cause who in the bleep has chickens in the passenger seat of a car. I answered questions about them to a inquisitive girl who came by.

Thank you @lilmynx13 :hugsit was nice to meet you and your children! and I'm happy the ladies will have a good home. The big grey cat loves kids so we think his prior home had children, even people who dislike cats love him... you had a long drive and with smelly chickens.
lilmynx is now the chicken mom of broody PC mix Gloria, an EE sometimes called Punkin head and a SS :)

Thank you for that information I will be including gloria and punkin in sunday school lessons. The other children will be so happy to have them and hear about their journey. Gloria is such a fitting name for her to be the lead hen in our story program. Smelly chickens are a small price to pay for years of sunday school lessons. The children will grow with them and hopefully see gloria raise some babies to bring many more stories to pre k sunday school. ( I also give children's lesson in the sanctuary so all the congregants will have chicken lessons )

I still have Princess she’s still broody. She doesn’t try to take my fingers off. No thank you I don’t want her sister :barnie I got rid of her sister Gloria. Too many broodies.
