Surviving Minnesota!

Good Morning! I was directed here from the “Where are you from” thread since I too survive Minnesota
While I’m not exactly new to chickens (having been around my grandparents farm), I am new to my own flock of 22, currently 14-weeks old. One rooster (Howie) and 21 girls. We are (fiancé and I) the process of reclaiming our 16-acres as the farm it used to be. This summer has been busy building the coop and run, which is affectionately know by our friends as, “Cluck Tower” due to the construction along the lines of a tiny home. Hey, we’re in upper Minnesota so full insulation is a must! Along with good ventilation of course. We just moved them in last weekend, though we still have upper walls, ceilings, electrical items, and trim to finish. The kids are loving the run and come rushing out each morning when I open up the “chicken man door.” Call us nuts but we put camping chairs and a little table outside the run so we could watch them during our morning coffee.

Welcome!

Holms, would you happen to remember where you posted that image of your row of pens in the barn? I meant to save it as an idea for what to do for single penning, but I've lost it and can't find it again.

Good morning, Minnesotans! Winter is on its way at last.

Found an armadillo here today. Dead by the tracks. A couple of the boys grabbed it and put it in their pickup but the game warden came and got it. Apparently there were 5 other dead ones found by the pool a while back too
