Welcome!Good Morning! I was directed here from the “Where are you from” thread since I too survive Minnesota
While I’m not exactly new to chickens (having been around my grandparents farm), I am new to my own flock of 22, currently 14-weeks old. One rooster (Howie) and 21 girls. We are (fiancé and I) the process of reclaiming our 16-acres as the farm it used to be. This summer has been busy building the coop and run, which is affectionately know by our friends as, “Cluck Tower” due to the construction along the lines of a tiny home. Hey, we’re in upper Minnesota so full insulation is a must! Along with good ventilation of course. We just moved them in last weekend, though we still have upper walls, ceilings, electrical items, and trim to finish. The kids are loving the run and come rushing out each morning when I open up the “chicken man door.” Call us nuts but we put camping chairs and a little table outside the run so we could watch them during our morning coffee.
Ouch! What, you haven't had a summer as bad as the one here? I thought for sure you'd be tired of it by now. I've been counting down the days til September since mid-June.
