I made a mistake last night. After coming in from the fireworks last night I didn’t close the back door of the attached garage where the littles still want to go to roost. Sometimes I carry them to the coop. Sometimes I’m too tired for coop training. Well something had major cajones traipsing into my garage and took my barnevelder cockerel. He died defending I’m sure. So little to do a brave thing. I don’t like this screw up on my part. I should have been a better keeper. Little rooster or not...

It happens to all of us.

Thank you for your generosity Ralphie. All set with my hunka chantecler Sentry. He'll be glad the little pesty is gone for sure this fall. But wanted to see the grow out on a Barnevelder rooster who was stunning as an 'awkward' teeny bop. You know in the middle of the night i surfaced out of my deep sleep. I'm sure of it and thought of it. The whole not closing the door thing. And I thought, "I'll be lucky tonight.
" And I went back to sleep.
I wonder if it was the moment he was grabbed. Gol dang it.
Still dont like giving foxes free lunchies. DS asked, "wouldn't have you needed to get rid of him anyhow?" LOL. 17 and already cold and calloused. Hahaha. Oh how they grow up.
I have yet to visit ND except for once briefly cutting the corner by Fargo en route to a cabin in MN, so I refrain from comment. One good thing... when you live somewhere like ND or large swaths of SD, people are a lot more likely to leave-you-the-heck-alone.
