When I opened coop doors it appeared a little damper and colder than what I thought it should be.

Morning . Wintry mix here today . So no outdoor work . Got my tomato seed order . Planted 2 of the three varieties . Need to get all my varieties planted . I plant 24 plants . Saw a toad the other day . Schools closing until the end of month due to corona . I am not hoarding or stockpiling .

We have had a couple cold windy days here, this morning the wind-chill is at -9. I was hoping to go shed hunting but with the wind today that north quarter will be cold.

Track started Monday, yesterday the NDHSAA suspended all extracurriculars, practices, meets and games. We had state tournaments stopped, and Class B Boys probably won't get to play a state tournament... Our regions team was ranked #3 in the state bracket. They let some state A games finish yesterday but that is it.

A few of us from my track team are continuing to practice but we just can't have a coach or be on school property. So yesterday, the 4 of us hopped in a car and we went to the public baseball field.

So I will share what I know about viruses . In chickens I finally have zero tolerance for sick birds . If it gets sick I cull . The reason being a recovered bird is a carrier . You can not kill a virus in the body . The immune system makes it go dormant . So under stress / lower immune system it activates and infects new hosts . Same with humans and all animals . So this corona is here to stay . We are buying time to get a handle on it . A vaccine will be developed . The recovered people will get it again when the immune system is low . Old age , cancer or other disease challenges . We will survive this as a species . There will be deaths as with all diseases . Panic does not help anything .

Morning . Yesterday was cloudy , damp and cool . Spent 3 hours outside splitting firewood (log splitter ) . Felt chilled to the bone by the time I quit . Should see some sun today . Then rain Wednesday and Thursday . Yuck . Got my grafting scions in the mail from Fedco . Apple and pear .

Was sunny and nice today . Spent 6 hours splitting firewood . Tomato seeds sprouted in 5 days . Surprised me .

I collected about 90 gallons of sap today, so tomorrow is evaporating day.
