Surviving Minnesota!

RALPHIE, IN MY EXPERIENCE ONE MUST FEED PIGS A VERY GOOD RATION TO KEEP THEM GROWING RAPIDLY TO SLAUGHTER. YOU WANT THAT WHOLE ENDEAVOR OVER BEFORE THE SNOW FLIES I WOULD THINK ?
THERE ARE FEW THINGS IF ANY BETTER THAN AQUALITY PORKCHOP PREPARED PROPERLY IN MY OPINION. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO EAT THEM DAILY FOR AN EXTENDED TIME I SUSPECT.
I AM LESS THAN COMPLETELY ENTHUSED ABOUT RAISING THEM HOWEVER. ONCE WAS ENOUGH FOR ME.
CHICKENS ARE EASIER TO CARE FOR, AND ONE DOES NOT LOSE AS MUCH IF A BEAR EATS ONE COMPARED TO IT EATING A PIG.
YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED WHAT SAINT JUDY THINKS OF YOUR LATEST ANIMAL HUSBANDRY PROJECT ?
My pig growing operation will be ending on Tuesday, I think.

They will have reached maximum weight, which happens to coincide with the coolest temps in the next week.

The WW thinks the pigs are cute, but she will not mind seeing them move to the freezer.

Morning . High of 78 predicted today . Turned a little pink Wednesday . Shirtsleve weather.Lilacs are starting to bloom here . Love the fragrance . I have a mutt pullet with unusual color . Birchen ( black & silver with double breast lacing . I need to get a pic . It has some dark Brahma in the mix . Which accounts for the double lacing .

Would love to see pics on it Jerry. The birchen mix. That first little lavender I got from you laid an egg yesterday. She’s 4 I think. Pearl. She’s in my avatar. I love her character.
Our little town looks like 4th of July around here. It’s a bit unnerving to see so many people and it’s the week before opener!
No restaurants or bars until the 18th. Possibly. Docks and boat lifts going in like crazy. Those guys are at it hard.

Enjoying the bird feeder. A bright yellow warbler yesterday. No rose breasted gross beaks or orioles yet.

More house cleaning packing at mom and dads this morning. The house has a purchase agreement.

No Orioles or RB Grosbeaks here yet either but it should be soon. I put an orange out yesterday.
I'm hoping to get the garden tilled soon but my small tiller broke last year so DH would have to till it with the big tiller. Not going to happen soon with his back and hernia bothering 😢
Maybe I got stronger and can use the big tiller without grinding myself up.... Ha

I gave up on tilling for those reasons. I mulch now days. Ruth stout method
Leaves, grass clippings, compost etc .

covering cardboard or newspapers with plants put through
I have clay soil so the decomposed stuff is better to plant seeds in anyway.
