Surviving Minnesota!

I found a buff orp. dead on Friday could have happened anytime between 730 am and 230 in the afternoon. Just over a year old. No sign of trauma. She was in the run, I let them out and left for work. They can come and go from coop and run during the day. Her comb was half purple. Would the comb turn purple before or after she died?? Just wondering if it was a heart problem?
Heart or lungs...lack of oxygen

Yes
At least mine did... the heart was enlarged in one and another the heart blew up.
I have heard lung problems , but I don't know what to look for in lungs

I should have done a necropsy... but I just thought what the hell. Hatchery bird, the last time I had bo’s I wasn’t very fond of them either. But I was wondering about the comb turning purple so thank you! Good to know.

Ok so here is the hatch. I am going to go with the boys are the really light ones and the girls will be the ones that are darker. Even though the head spots seem to be messy pretty much for all of them! The two white chicks are out of green eggs and the one solid black is out of a brown egg from the coop so not a t Dom.

Is anyone else experiencing a greater than normal number of wasps, hornets and yellowjackets? I just got nailed 10-12 times on my shins and once on my right butt cheek.

I have been stung more times this year than in the last 10 years. Minus the hornets that got me last fall picking wild grapes.

The WW has been stung over a dozen times too. Today’s arse zeros... Came from under the brush hog as I was hooking it up to the bobcat. I was a captive audience for a few minutes before I got unlatched and out of it.

The last one got me on the butt, I was a good 150 ft from the brush hog, the little B decided to follow me (B does not stand for Bee). I have been stung so much this summer I am starting to worry I will overload my system and develop a reaction to them.

My boney little derrière cannot handle any more abuse. The WW has a raised area about 4-5 inches around and red as a tomato. I am afraid I might be like that now..

I emptied my spray on them, more is on the way.

Poor poor me!!
