Swedish Flower Hen Thread

What is the most common personality of the SFH roosters? The one I had was the biggest sweetheart ever!! I was curious if that is common, though?
Thank you!

Mine have all been really nice so far. I have one that can´t come anywhere near other roos (blood will spill even through fencing), but he´s really nice with me and my kids. The others are absolute sweethearts.

This sweet girl I have lost all her chicks to rats about a month ago. Rats are gone now, and she´s started laying again. She hid 9 eggs behind a shovel in the coop, and has been broody on them for 2 days now. She gets MEAN when anyone or anychicken gets near those eggs! I wish her luck that she gets some babies that she can raise without too many problems this time:

I hope she makes it to hatch time. I love broodies and their perseverance. She's really pretty, too. :fl

How old are SFH's typically when they begin to lay? We have some that are 11 weeks 3 days old (Easter day hatch) and we just got a teeny tiny egg from that pen. There are two older hens in there that have been laying regular sized eggs for some time. We got one regular sized egg and the teeny tiny one today. It really does look like a first egg!

if they're only 11 weeks there is no way they are laying. The earliest SFH I've had has been 5 months. I'd say one of your 2 older hens laid a "fart egg"

Freckles was bought as a female, but I keep seeing "red shoulder feathers means roo", so figured I'd see what y'all thought ... 6 weeks old, I realize it is young, but any guesses appreciated! side note: (s)he is larger than the rest of my chicks its same age

I'm still seeing girly. Still early, though. She's a cutie!

Looks like a girl to me, too, but you´ll know for certain in a couple weeks. The red on the shoulders of the roos is usually darker.
