Sorry to hear about the curled toe chicks, how are they now?Hi all, I just hatched out some Swedish Flower Hen chicks and I noticed that a few of them have curled toes. I have been reading over some of this thread and it seems like this is a common problem with this breed. We got them some vitamins to add to the water, just wondering if anyone has had any success with treating this issue? Thanks!
I don't know with SFH, but would be interested to hear your experience as they grow up. I found it worked with Barbezieux, on a very small sample!Out of 8 chicks I have 3 with distinctly longer wing feathers at 1 week old than the other 5. Does the feather sexing method work at 1 week?
It turns out it is only 1 with curled toes. It’s also the only white chick, so maybe it’s some recessive gene that showed up? The breeder said she has never hatched one like thatSorry to hear about the curled toe chicks, how are they now?
How many did you hatch? Photos?
I don’t know but one of mine has started doing chest bumps on the others already! It is twice the size of the others also so I am thinking male! Oh, and it is one of the chicks with less feathers. I know with Orpingtons the females tend to feather in earlier.Out of 8 chicks I have 3 with distinctly longer wing feathers at 1 week old than the other 5.
