These chicks are 5 weeks old now.

They have really grown! Beautiful chicks. Mine are slightly older but are not that big yet. What are you feeding yours?!? 😜

Quite different to mine in colour. Thats what I love about this bread, I have enjoyed waiting to see what colours and markings they are going to have.

I am actually feeding them broiler chick starter (20%) because that’s all they had at the store. Maybe that’s why they are big😂Switching then to grower pellets in a week though.

Hi Everyone. New here, but just hatched my first set of Swedish Flower Hens under a broody Australorp about 3 weeks ago. 8 chicks in all. This is the chicks in the nest a day or two after hatch and then making their first round out of the nest approximately 1 week after hatching.

Wonderful colours! You've got such a mix.
This is one of the hens with three chicks. Mum still attacks if you try and pick them up haha
No clear signs if one is a cockerel but we have some head feathers coming on some..

I see you used an Australorp as a broody as well. They are the best! I prefer them to silkies because (while being generally a gentle bird), they have some good attack skills. Mine warded off a red-tail hawk last night.

Amazing looking chicks and mum. Please keep sharing their progress.

My Australorp looking mum actually hatched from an Exchequer leghorn egg with a Welsummer or Barnevelder cockerel... weird mix. She is a strange hen and is quite flighty and stand offish. But first class protector and mum. Her 3 chicks are much more scared of me than the other 5 chicks with a friendly Welsummer mix hen.
