Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I have 2 Swedish Flower Hens! A black mottled cockerel (He's for sale!) and a blue mottled pullet with really unique markings. I'll get some pictures.

Hi Everyone! Our chicks are officially one month old. Any guesses on cockerel or pullet? :highfive:

Any guesses?!?!?
I’m no expert, but I have to agree. #s 2,6 and 8 are pullets. I think 7 is probably a pullet too. #3 is definitely a cockerel. #s 1,4 and 5 are probably cockerels too, but unless they have wattles to go with those pink combs, there is a chance they could still be female.

Of my original six, I had two that scared me that way, but eventually settled into being pullets. The breeder had told me her pullets grow combs, and she was right.

On yours, I tried to look for telltale coloring in the breast feathers, but yours are all whited out, so female salmon and male black don’t show up. And I’m not seeing red wing shoulder patches either.

Another thing my Swedish cockerels don’t tend to do is to have bare shoulders and short tails, which is the first thing that gives it away in other breeds. I have noticed my males feather in much the same as the girls

Thanks, everyone. I think there will be a lot of development in the next few weeks. I was hoping that the white one would be a hen when it was younger, but agree that it is likely a rooster.

Here is my latest update.. I have quite a mixture of colours but I fear an unwanted number of cockerels..

this is my SFH x LA, Ruthin, at 6 weeks old. I have my fingers crossed (1) it's a girl and (2) she'll lay blue eggs... she seems to have the pea comb :fl
