Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Thought I would share....

This cockerel is the one who will be going with a pullet. I set 8 more eggs today, so I'm really hoping for some more color variations. The greyer one off in the back right is a keeper for sure just because my pair is mostly red, and again, I want alot of varience.

Sorry for the lack of quality in the photo... they are in a tractor and I just stick the camera in and shoot. lol!!!

My wheelchair broke Monday and I couldn't get it fixed until Friday, so I did not get to finish the new coop/tractor until this morning.
Got the girls moved. They know what to do when they hit the ground. Their new guard puppy "Molly" keeping an eye on them.

That looks great! I bet they are loving the extra room.

I love moving growing birds to bigger homes... that moment when they realize "wow. look at this place!" lol!!

So much fun to come on the thread and find lots of pictures!

LazyQ, I think you need to change your name to IndustriousQ  You can get things done! Very nice pen. :highfive:

anniesmom, you know, you could start a new rare breed of bird....the crested seagull  A new project for you! BTW, the gal that was going to sell me the blue hen decided
to keep her. :( Disappointed, but I gave her my sweetest cockerel so hopefully they'll be productive and I'll be able to get some babies from them.

tnchickenut, I wonder if the lighter color is dominant in this breed? I have one white hen, some red on her wings. She's my favorite, so very sweet. I'd love lots of her babies but
I free range so I worry about her all the time.

Finally, KYT, HUBBA HUBBA :love Beatus is Beautiful!! I have a single comb similar to him, but really wish he would have been crested. I kept one crested boy, just sold a third that looked much like Stellan. I hated to give him up but I don't have a whole lot of places to stash roosters. I suppose if one has a large crested roo they could breed to a single comb hen to reduce the size of crest. My mille fleur hen has a larger crest (I too got my birds from Michele). I think at the time Michele didn't have all her hens laying but I did ask her and her crested hens were. All of your roosters are very nice!

OK, I got some new pics of my babies. They are seven weeks old. These came from eggs I bought from Deumig10, and I just love them. There are five of them. Your input would be great, as far as coloring, quality and especially gender! I *think* I have two roos and three pullets. What do you think of them?

PIC 1 - All five birds

PIC 2 - one of the two that are crested

PIC 3 - I'm thinking roo......

PIC 4 - And another possible roo

PIC 5 -

PIC 6 - the other crested one (hen???)

PIC 7 - All five

Very nice and great variety of colors!
I'm thinking three boys and two girls, though. All three of those in Pic 5 look like boys to me. At 7 weeks the wattles on the crested one in the back (and alone in pic 2) are way too big and red for a girl. The red coloring on his feathers, too, is much darker than your little red crested pullet.
