Woke up to a second chick! The rest of the eggs are quiet, but I'll double check later. It will not surprise me if even a broody doesn't get great results considering how hard I tried to hatch them and didn't get better than 40% on my first try.

Forgot my camera when I raced outside with excitement. Kids are now up, so we will go out together in a bit.
I hope the others hatch for you as well, but at least you have two. Now hopefully they are pullets! Of the first eight that hatched I have 5 pullets, and 3 roos. I have 10 new ones that hatched Tuesday from eggs from Dahlisgram. They are beautiful, and some new colors for me.

Two have hatched and two more have pipped/partway cracked around the egg. Hoping I wake up to more chicks

YAYYYYY!

ROFL talk about doubletakes... i had to re-read this. the first time i saw 'he has wonderful flavoring'. thinking to self, she ATE him???

Nom, nom, nom, nom...

LOL! Nah - I can't eat him yet. Just like with KFC, without at least 13 season-ings, the "flouring" is just aesthetics.

We came home from an errand to a third chick, so we got 50%. I haven't pushed the hen off to see how the rest of the eggs look yet today because it upsets the babies who then run all over the coop looking for mom.

A local friend was sent some SFH chicks from GF due to a cancelled order for basically shipping, and she offered them to me. I picked them up yesterday too. So I now have 20 SFH. Surely a few of them are pullets, right? Feast or famine too...I went from none to a whole bunch! Yay!

I love how they are all different. And their funny little personalities.

I'll get good photos later.

Just put 20 into lockdown last night! This is my first big hatch from my birds(I hatched 3 checking fertility) So we will see what kind of colors I get the first 3 were all different so :fl

Just the three hatchlings, and the darn hens are still sitting on the leftover egg trying to hatch it. I'll give it until Saturday then pull the egg. I put food in the coop for the babies to go pick at, even though I know they can go 3 days post hatching.

Congrats on so many fluffy-butts! Yes - we need pictures!

I have seven that just went in to lockdown, all from my lone hen. If several hatch, I'll be interested to see the coloring. One rooster, one hen. What will I get, if anything?

Depends on the colors of your roo and hen. If they're both mille fleur, most of your chicks will likely be MF too.

Here is one of the babies my hens hatched. I'm having real trouble getting photos. When I lift the hens off, the chicks run all over, and this one hen pecks them.

Here is a second. I cannot wait until I can clean the coop. The hens got really mad at me every time, and I knew we were coming up on hatch day so I left them alone for a few days. Yucky.

Here is the third

I haven't taken photos of the others either.

Madamwuf, who lives near me, hatched this guy. I love him. He is a stinker though. Name of Wasp. He started as a black chick.

The only young lady from my Valentine's day chicks. Name of Sweet.

I need to photograph the new ones, but I haven't sorted out a pen for them outside, and the lighting in the garage is less than ideal, even with a flash.
