Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Hello! Thought I'd update you guys on how our flower hens are! We have five from TareelBirdy, ended up with three girls and two boys! Perfect!

They're about 3 months old I think!

Beautiful birds!

redridge, way cute.

I feel like an idiot, because out of 19 chicks, of which 3 are supposed to be sfh, I picked two banty's to be the sfh. By the time the teeny tiny chick was identified as a banty, some fo the chicks were starting to feather out. I thought, oh, these are the sfh. But, they don't look anything like yours, Redridge.

Does anyone think this is a swedish flower hen? It isn't a cream legbar, it isn't a lav orp, it isn't an auracana, and I don't think it is an icelandic. Those should be the other choices but since she snuck a banty into that group, it is possible something else came in.

Opinions? sfh or not? pink legs.

It could be. Most of mine start out with pinkish legs and the legs turn yellow as they near sexual maturity. Post more pics as it ages - it should be pretty clear one way or another in a few months if not sooner.

These are the beautiful boys I got from SunnySkies. The younger one who looks like a crested version of Soren - thus we named him Sorensen - is the boss. LOL! Now that they are near girls, they go from best buds to sparring partners and then back to best buds.

And... we ARE coming to VA this weekend! But we'd be about 2 hours north of you I think. We can't make the extra drive due to the fact that we're taking "milking school" on one of the small farms down there to see first-hand operation of family milk cows and beef that have genetics that are disposed to grass-feeding. If you had any kiddos for sale...and if I was able to make that extra drive....

JB - how big are the eggs your girls are laying? Mine are TINY. One of them didn't even tip the egg scale at all; the other I weighed just barely made it into the "pee wee" class.

EVERYONE:
How long (age-wise) before I can expect the eggs to be at least in the "medium" range?

Sad news my little white SFH from KI4got was killed by a predator yesterday....so sad. She was a cool little girl.
Hopefully my 7SFH eggs due tues/wed will hatch.

so sorry to hear that!

hopefully i'll have a pen to put my sfh trio in soon... even if I have to evict the mille fleur cochins for a while. both girls are laying (I think) and I know the roo is eager. LOL (like a teenaged male of any species ROFL).

Bulldogma, those roos are gorgeous. Sorry to hear about the loss of your SFH jmarie. I am in a hunt for SFH. None of the eggs we received hatched. Don't know what happened but the only denominator was shipping. The Buff Orps I received shipped did not hatch either the last time. The only success we have had was Rhodebar that we picked up from the breeder. I really want some of the SFH. They are beautiful but will not get them unless I can pick up the eggs. I don't know of anyone in South Carolina who has them.

Who's teaching the school? This is what I do for both cattle and sheep dairies all across the country... was curious who was teaching this one...
