Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Hi everyone!!

New to to BYC. I currently have a Heinz 57 flock of 8 but next spring I want to add a couple Swedish Flowers. Starting to learn everything I can-the hardest seems to be finding local (or semi-local...or in the same state even) breeders. I'd love to find show quality birds, but we shall see.

So much information about the breed-thank you!!

I need advice. I thought this one was a cockerel but it didn't get much of a comb so then thought it was a girl. Now I can't tell if I am seeing pointy feathers or not. My eyes are deceiving me. Can someone see if it is a boy or girl. Oh and don't tell hubby I put it on the kitchen table when he ran into town

I probably shouldn't even weigh in as I don't have lots of experience. But....I "think" it looks like a pullet to me.

@Loriemarler I'm actually going to guess cockerel just based off that coloring! But I will say my boys had muck bigger combs at that age. So???? Wish I could be more helpful!

Oh... that's a tough one.....can't wait to hear what the experienced peeps say. I think pullet.. but the body shape is so cockerel... some have slow comb development.
