I only see the crest on the one second from the right, but if I was guessing I would say you have 3 females and one crest male.

One of my roosters crowed this morning for the first time! At what age did everyone's hens start laying?

Interesting...my hens are 18 wks old and today I saw one of the roosters mating with one. I always thought that the roosters didn't mate until the hen was laying.

I keep checking the nest box for SFH eggs but looks like I'm premature.



My hens are no bigger than my Spitzhauben right now. I expected them to be bigger. I'm kind of worried about them free ranging because of their size.

Four of mine were about 6 months old and the fifth still has not started laying at 7 1/2 months.

My females aren't very large either, but they have are still filling in. Mine are pretty good at flying. I am guessing that makes up for size in free ranging? I put five SFH eggs (out of 6 hens ) in the frig yesterday. Only about one more week and they will be pure. I am thinking I will set a few the week after Easter with the Cream Legbar eggs I have coming in the mail.

On a happy note, I just hatched some Isbars yesterday, another Swedish breed! That thread is really quiet. I recognized some same names on both threads. Please come over there and tell me about your Isbars.

I took them outside and got more better pictures. You might be able to see crests on the other 2.
The one in yesterdays picture with the obvious crest is at least a week older than the others.
I still hope I got 4 girls.

Some new babies hatched this week. There are 16 in all. I think I got about every color!
