Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I am hoping that you SFH experts can tell me if this is a pullet or cockerel. He is 9 weeks old. Actually I'm 99% sure it's a cockerel - his comb is so much bigger than the others that hatched at the same time, but I want to be absolutely certain before I re-home him - since I don't need another cockerel. I love his color pattern, though. Is this a male color pattern? I had five other SFH with this coloring - and they were all males. The females are pretty, too - just not quite so colorful. Here are a couple more photos.

I agree its a male. I call that color red mille fleur. I've got both hens and roosters in that color.

I also agree. 9 weeks - that's a boy! You are correct in that the females don't tend to be as colorful. They needed to hide from predators.

Very pretty birds!! I hadn't seen a mille fleur rooster until you posted the picture of yours. Very cool!

This is a Red Mille Fleur Hen and Rooster. The Rooster looked just like yours when he was younger. This straight on angle looks a little weird, I need to get a side view of him. I chose this guy as one of our main Roo's as he was very early maturing and has a huge body, in addition to the pretty coloring.

Big red comb at only 9 weeks and bright feather colors.

The size and color of the comb and wattles. On boys they are redder and bigger.
