laid back, cochins, while I loved them, I assumed that they were that way because they were too lazy to do anything else.
great pets but energetic..OEG. Lot of energy and when they are tamed, love to see what you are doing. Follow you like dog whereas a cochin wonders what you are doing but not worth a trip to follow to see what you are doing......
I've had 2 different strains of brahma bantams and both of them have been a little aloof.
We've had mixed luck with silkies, a couple were just like any other chicken, but our latest girl fluffy is the SWEETEST, DUMBEST, CUTEST thing EVER! lol sorry for the capitals
also, our d'uccles are great (very food oriented
) and I had a banty cochin named Stella who was my favorite chicken I've ever had.
We're just getting into banty barred rocks, and they seem to be very beautiful and docile birds.
Cochin Bantams are such docile and gentle birds. I raised and showed them in Frizzle and Smooth and they are such great birds. They seem to enjoy interaction and like the attention as other tame or docile breeds seem to tolerate it and thats about it. Althought any breed can be tamed to become a pet. We have some Leghorn x OEG and they were some of the tamest birds we had.
Cochins sound intriguing! Thanks for all the suggestions. they've given me something to think about. I've been handraising a leghorn, but she really doesn't like to be handled.
