Swelling and Scab on Duck Foot

We performed surgery today.

Here's a picture right after we removed the scab:

We washed it and wrapped it up with triple antibiotic ointment. Approximately how long should we expect it to take to heal?

My ducks' feet usually seem to heal pretty fast. If it won't stress her out, progress pics would be really nice, too.

One of my Buffs had something similar with her middle toe swelling like that but it eventually developed a small scab similar to bumblefoot. I removed the scab with very sharp sterilized tweezers and scraped out a lot of gunk. I had been spraying it with Blu-Kote which wasn't having much effect (usually works like a charm for me) and Amiga recommend using clear iodine ( NOT brown - clear) and that seems to have done the trick.

The infection in their feet, or puss... is very VERY hard in comparison to puss you would usually think of... so squeezing won't do much good if any... now that you have the scab off... keep soaking it & putting ointment on it before you wrap it & the infection will start working its way out. It will be kind of like cottage cheese, & it probably has a core in there that's gonna need to come out- judging by how swollen it is. Your baby will be OK tho w/ some TLC!

Just to clarify... should I be soaking in Epsom Salt water or just plain water?

Here's a picture from today evening right before wrapping it up. I wasn't able to soak it in Epsom Salt since we were in a hurry to go somewhere. Probably won't be able to soak it tomorrow morning either, but I'll make sure to soak it tomorrow before I put them in for the night.

There still seems to be swelling beneath the area where the scab was. Is it just pus that has to be taken out?

Yes that is puss... Just take the tweezers & get what you can, then just leave it alone & soak it & wrap it... & Let more work its way out & do the same... It's coming! Keep doing what you're doing! It's working!

Here's from today afternoon after soaking in Epsom Salt:

Thank you so much for walking me through this process :)
