If this many people are dying from the flu yearly, then why are we worrying so much? It is already in Kansas, and probably in Nebraska too by now... TOO LATE TO KEEP IT OUT OF THE COUNTRY!! It has hit the heartland...

So True........and all the while......our borders remained open.

it has no vaccine, they are even recommending people in mexico to have no physical contact as simple as a handshake...

i am of a suspicious nature, not trusting the media to give us the whole story so go looking for more specifics....

X2 I say research this before believing anything the media says, they're usually looking to cause mass hysteria!

Call me crazy (or raised by a germophobe father LOL) but I usually wipe off the tops of my cans with a bit of soap and water on a cloth. They are always dusty and have who knows what on them, then when you open the can the lid dips into the liquid inside the can...I don't like the idea of dust falling into my food. And don't forget you usually heat what is inside hot enough to kill a lot of germs anyway!

I'm not sure how to feel... I teach at a public high school in TX and know for a fact that I've had students who traveled to Mexico recently. That being said, there are no confirmed cases in my county.

The conspiracy theorist in me wants to run out and buy several days worth of groceries and supplies. The more rational side of me says it's just a virus that (so far) hasn't been overwhelmingly fatal. That being said, the little one that died in Houston was 23 months old (it was also noted that he several other health issues as well). My baby boy is 26 months old.

I am a biology teacher, so I understand the mechanisms of transmission and incubation... but I just don't know...

Main reason, this one may kill 10 times or more.

In the flu out break in 1918 it killed 40 to 50 mill without the modern world travel we have today.

It's not the first round with a virus like this that you have to worry about. It's when it mutates and goes around again 2 years or so from now.

The 1918 flu had a mild wave first

We have a possible case here in oklahoma, its hard not to think of the stories i've heard from older relatives- all we can do is trust God to give us wisdom- i keep wondering if this may have been manmade-

The latest case around us is in lowell Ma..(about an hour away from me), and my mother and older brother now seem to be working for the CDC

..... daily now they inform me that i need to get rid of my pigs...that lowell is way to close to us.... today my foster son came home from school spouting off some nonsense a teacher told him about the pigs..(i'll be calling her tomorrow..
