If this panic continues to grow, I'll be locking my family in just to avoid the freak-out. The face masks are sold out all over town, because 50% of our population of 100K is between the ages of 18 and 30. It's a college town, and if this flu acts like the 1918, the immuno-response is what kills the patient- they drown in their mucus. The age group of 20-30 have the best immuno-response and it takes a toll, rather than being a good thing.
I'm personally just going on about my business until there's something nearer than Junction City- which is where the KS infections are...coincidentally the epicenter for the first infections of 1918.
It's nearly comical to watch the press respond to this, though. They had a long story regarding how they're not to call it the swine flu, then proceeded to talk about the swine flu for 10 more minutes immediately after telling us it should be identified as H1N1...lovely. This is our information authority?
