On the other hand the WHO just raised the alert level to 5 which is one short of full blown pandemic. I don't think this is all about politics or simple border closings anymore.

I heard Egypt is slaughtering every pig in order to keep it down over there.
I also heard its going to take something like 4 to 6 months for them to come up with the fist batch of vaccines

I am a little concerned about this flu, because one of my friends is in Cancun on vacation and next week we are going away to a dog show together.

Have you all ever heard of grapefruit seed extract, or GSE? It's a strong anti-viral and anti-bacterial liquid. We take some in juice every time we start coming down with something, and it always goes away before getting past the start of a sore throat or sniffly nose or belly ache. It also works great to get mildew out of laundry, lol. Anyway, you all should look into GSE. It's great stuff. I have no doubt it will kill the swine flu virus, since it's effective against the normal influenza that goes around every year. I also recommend taking vitamin D supplements--cod liver oil is a great source. B-complex vitamins and vitamin C also help a lot. Eat minimal processed foods and little to no sugar (especially white sugar) and eat lots of garlic. Wash your hands and avoid sick people and crowded places as much as possible. (Easier to do here, in a semi-rural area than it would be in a large city...) If you do all those things, I don't think anyone should panic. We literally get sick once a year or less at our house following that advice. (Except sometimes we do binge on sugar a bit...

)

I would not get a vaccine for swine flu. Has anyone read about the last swine flu vaccine they made and all the horrible side effects it had? Any time they rush to make a vaccine without time to test it on different age groups you run a huge risk. Aside from that, vaccines lower your natural ability to fight off illness so if the vaccine doesn't "take" you will just end up with a lowered immune system!

I read that Tamiflu has an entire list of side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, cough, congestion, and sore throat. It was banned in Japan for use in children after they had so much trouble with it.

I don't what all they have shut down do this. I do know however that they have cancelled all the UIL (state texas education thing) have canceled all events and competitions until May.
