swollen and scabby ear

Going forward, you're going to have to make sure you keep it clean and supple so it doesn't scab over and gunk back up. When tending to him you can use a saline wash on a cotton ball to clean it up and soften the tissue.
I would also suggest keeping this bird separate from the rest so it doesn't get picked on.

Follow @Eggcessive advice and read through those links...these guys really know their stuff!

there is no eye swelling, no beak swelling but he has another little bump next to his crest. it is also hard but looking better. I put a picture of it before. do you think as a preventative measure I should give them something in the water? I dont want the others to get it also..

The problem with antibiotics (if that is what you mean,) is that you cannot just go out and buy some without a prescription. Some can be had online for fish or pigeons, but do you have something in mind? None of those are approved for chickens, although may be prescribed for a known infection. I would concentrate on getting both sides cleaned out well, and also post a picture of the third bump if possible. I am hoping that @dawg53 will chime in here about antibiotics, if needed. Amoxicillin, clavamox, or bactrim would probably be good for an ear infection. Do you have a vet locally where you could get some tomorrow?

I wasn't thinking about antibiotics I was more in the direction of probiotics, vitamins copper....something health promoting. I read many comments but I am really new and dont know really what's correct.
I can go to the farm store tomorrow but i need to know what to buy. i will clean all their ears tomorrow

this is the one on his head

:welcome:yesss:
Hi,
I am new to raising chickens. I noticed yesterday that one of my chickens have a swollen and scabby ear. I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and put some neosporin on it. the chicken is running, eating and drinking normally. there is no mucus of any sort....
it doesnt seem to like when I touch it.
does this require a vet visit?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome you will LOVE it here. Everyone is really nice! We are so happy to have you here!

Probiotics would be perfectly fine. Probios powder is found in most feed stores, or you can use a little buttermilk in the feed a few days a week. I would not use copper (acidified copper sulfate) in the water. That is sometimes used for oral canker and some fungal infections. I am not a vet, just a chicken owner.

Those are some odd looking 'things' on ears and face.
You are in good hands with @Eggcessive

Are you actually in Aruba @Arubachicken ?
