Hey all I have been lurking on this community for YEARS and I have found your advice so helpful. I have read a few posts about this issue because I noticed one of my hens has a swollen nose area a few days ago. She also has a bit of an open wound and she is lowest in the pecking order in my little flock (1 bully mama a little more than a year old and 2 smaller siblings that were born around thanksgiving) so i was thinking it could just be that she was getting pecked. But now I have noticed some symptoms in her sibling - another warty nose and even more concerning she has a sore on her comb. They seem to be eating drinking and acting normally but they also free range all day and i mostly just see them in the morning and evening. Have not noticed anything strange on my older hen, she is laying perfectly but the siblings are much closer nearly inseparable. Please see the attached pics and let me know what you think.

Welcome To BYC

Could be Fowl Pox. Do you notice any lesions on the inside of the beak?

I would be inclined to not disturb the scabs. If you wish, you could paint some Iodine on them to see if that helps.
If eating/drinking well and active, just keep watch on those places - see if they resolve in a few weeks.

I see the scabs on her comb now. Yes, I think that looks like Fowl Pox scabs.
You don't want to disturb those. Dry Fowl Pox will generally resolved over several weeks, but you may see more scabs appear. Some folks apply Iodine to help dry them up.
As long as they are eating/drinking, active - I would monitor them.

Thanks so much for your response! I just went out to check, the insides of their mouths look normal and pink to me. The one with the warty comb, Cuddle, managed to scrape up the top of her nose lump though. There is nothing draining from it no blood it just looks pretty crusty i will try to get a pic but they are losing patience with me at this point. Im thinking she probably disturbed it when scraping her beak on something

They have been sneezing a bit but it hasnt struck me as an abnormal amount
OK, so Cuddle has scraped her nose, is that where you are seeing lesions on her?
Those bumps could be scabs if they are sticking there beak through wire, getting them caught in a feeder, etc. Take note to see if they are trying to reach something like grass/weeds that are on the other side of the fencing(?) Just a thought since both are ending up with scabs on the beak (do I have that right?)

An occasional sneeze is pretty normal, especially if they have been eating/drinking (getting food/water in the nostrils). Sometimes during dust bathing.

Idk if you can tell but shes broken the skin also now that i can examine the pics shes got a few more blemishes on her comb than i had previously noticed. Do you think I should be worried and try to find medical care for them or is this something that I should just monitor?

They do occasional put their nose through chicken wire bc they scratch at their food in their dish and all the good morsels go flying but i wouldnt think it was enough to cause damage
