Swollen Chicken - No fluid

So I checked on her this morning and she is breathing fine no honking or anything except her little chirps saying hello. She went right to water off the roost and I put layer feed out with nice hot water in it (not too hot) and she gobbled it down. Her belly didn't feel quite as hard/swollen but could be wishful thinking. I will get the Baytril from the vet today and do what I can to help her. She is still very strong. What form should the baytril be in? Shot or liquid?

I am fine with shots. I have had to do that twice now with injuries. One was dog attack and second was rooster torn back of hens neck off. My vet is a miracle worker and both have survived and are thriving.

So I called my vet and he won't give me baytril without seeing the chicken. He said they have cracked down on the distribution of it without seeing the animal. He suggested getting Teramycin powder from feed store and he could help me with the conversion for a chicken. So should I try the Teramycin or take her in to get baytril?

He also said to feel in her clocoa (sp) and if she is eggbound I would be able to feel the egg. Is that true?

I am not familiar with these medicines but am familiar with a EXTREEME egg bound hen-----you can not feel the egg, but might feel the hard blockage and take as a egg.

Terramycin is oxytetracycline, better for respiratory diseases. You cannot get it at feedstores anymore without a vet prescription because of new FDA rules. They don't even stock it at TSC since last December. In my post 12, you can get Baytril online, but I don't know if you can get it very quickly as you could by seeing your vet. Baytril is banned in chickens and most vets are reluctant because of FDA regs not to prescribe it. So it is up to you--you could get it online or take the chance that your vet will prescribe it.

Thank you everyone for your input I very much appreciate it. So far she is okay. She doesn't seem to suffering like she was. I may take her into the vet so I can get the baytril right away. If I do euthanize her I will get a necropsy. I will update when something changes.

Update and another question. My hen is hanging in there. I haven't really done much except making sure she is eating and drinking plus I put coconut oil on her vent and it isn't prolapsed any longer but her belly is still swollen. Now to my question. The only antibiotic I could get my hands on without going to the vet was the Duramycin 72-200 I have tried reading the dosage info that is already out here but I'm confused. Here is exactly what I have. What is the dosage in ml.

Did happen to see my posted update yesterday? All I could get was duramycin 72-200 but I needed dosage help. Also where would I order baytril online without a prescription?

In post 12 you will find a link for baytril sources in the first post. I believe the oxytetracycline dosage is 25 mg per pound, so I would give her 1 to 1 1/4 ml daily for 5 days. You can inject it into a muscle in her breast or under her skin in her neck. There is not a lot of info found on injectable oxytetracycline. No I hadn't seen your post earlier.
