Swollen Joint

My duck went lame a few months ago and after supplementing her diet with niacin she is starting to get use back in her leg. Now, however, she has a huge abscess on her joint. I do not have a vet anywhere near my area to take her too so I would appreciate suggestions on how to treat this. I'm wondering if lancing it and draining the area and then applying ointment and wrapping it would be a good plan. Thanks so much!

You might follow the treatment for a bumble . . . clear iodine - clear, not brown.

And you might try to get word out to find a vet - I really think if it's possible that would be best - and I understand sometimes there just isn't one. But maybe you can ask around, maybe on the Where Am I Where Are You Forum, or use Majestic Waterfowl's vet finder site.
