Swollen Thigh

Her leg is completely limp. No movement at all. And her thigh is very swollen. And I have no idea what’s going on. Help!

Yes poor thing only has one little tail feather left. Lol. It’s so cute though.

Is it broken? That would explain the swelling and limpness.

Can you see a vet to get an xray? Is the skin broken? It sounds like an injury or broken bone. Broken bones in the thigh or femur can be very difficult to splint.

I felt around but didn't feel like anything was broken. Could it be out of socket up at the hip?

Yes it could be dislocated. I realize that xrays and vet care are expensive, but that is the best way to diagnose a fracture or dislocation. Many times, large animal vets can be of help with chickens or a trusted local dog and cat vet may help you.
