Swollen toe joint

I noticed this weird swollen portion on my RIR pullet’s 4th right toe. She doesn’t seem affected by it because she doesn’t limp or act lethargic. If I poke the swollen portion she’ll lift her foot up, but that’s really the only behavioural change. Anybody know what this is, and if it needs curing? How can I fix it if needed and avoid future problems like this?

It appears the toe was at some point in time wrapped in the material which resulted in constriction of the toe, and total loss of blood flow to the very distal point. As of now, it appears whatever was wrapped around has fallen off, but it does look as if the body is naturally amputating the necrotic dead tissue. The tissue appears to be healthy, so I would personally just monitor the area for any signs of concern.

Hmm, that was my first thought. I’m assuming she’ll be fine if she looses the end of her toe? I don’t think it would affect her walking too much
