She's still sitting. She's still in the outhouse. I want to time it right with moving her to the brooder. I moved a Muscovy really early once and she stopped sitting.
I've moved Jemima three times in the past and all was well.
I moved her eggs today while she was out swimming they where on top of an old piece of carpet, but I built her a nest today. It's a circle of ply about 3mm thick and 15cm high, I put some chicken wire on the bottom, so it sort of looks like a big sieve. I've linned it with straw and piled it up around the edges. It looks natural, and Jem likes it.
I found a couple of extra eggs today though, not sure if they're hers or another Muscovy. If they are hers than she isn't 100% broody, as she stops laying when she sits. I've marked them all and will be taking unmarked eggs away.
If you still want a go at winning a sweet little prize there is no harm is going with May 3rd or later it's possible that she will sit through April and hatch in May.

Post started on 3/18/11 @ 9 eggs. Last time she had 21 eggs and @ 1 egg/ day.... with 9 already laid, if it's the same as last year, she had 12 days left till she should stay on the nest starting the beginning of this post. This should assign her to stay put on 3/30/11. I think it's a bit un-usual to lay for 42 days, but it IS possible. However, I think she WILL go over her "due date" but only by a couple days... So I'm going to split hairs and shoot for right in between the normal time... and her usual time... with 39 days from laying down and staying on nest.. which makes my guess, well,.... Monday, May 8th (Mothers day). Are we doing time too? lol
. Very entertaining!
Had to edit... I did my math wrong the first time. lol
