Post started on 3/18/11 @ 9 eggs. Last time she had 21 eggs and @ 1 egg/ day.... with 9 already laid, if it's the same as last year, she had 12 days left till she should stay on the nest starting the beginning of this post. This should assign her to stay put on 3/30/11. I think it's a bit un-usual to lay for 42 days, but it IS possible. However, I think she WILL go over her "due date" but only by a couple days... So I'm going to split hairs and shoot for right in between the normal time... and her usual time... with 39 days from laying down and staying on nest.. which makes my guess, well,.... Monday, May 8th (Mothers day). Are we doing time too? lol
. Very entertaining!
Had to edit... I did my math wrong the first time. lol
Still got May 6th and 7th and also loads of later dates.
She's still there, her eggs are toasty warm when I check on them. She's still in the outhouse though, I'm still not sure if it'S the right time to move her. I have moved her nest twice though to see what she did, she didn't seam to mind the change of location, but it's a bit different moving the nest a couple of meters than moving it into a dog house.
Fingers crossed.
If the eggs take more than one day to all hatch, there will be two winners. Times are CET (central European time).
Last night a fox got into the outhouse, killed Jem and took her off.
I blaim myself, I knew the outhouse wasn't secure but i didn't want to move her too early in case she didn't sit anymore.
She was a fantastic duck, the first Muscovy I bought. She was tame and a fantastic mother. She hatched about fifty ducklings last year, she'll be missed.
I was planning on moving her to the dog house today. I just wish I did it sooner.
It could have been worse, the fox could have gotten into the coop, or taken birds durring the day like last year. I'm upset and mad at myself.
