Taking heat off of a chick

Im just sitting with them. how come? with the feathers.

The idea is that being colder forces them to feather in faster as they need to keep themselves warm. Not sure how true that is, though they certainly become more tolerant to temperature swings if they're exposed to it regularly.

I plan to do it every day or 2.

Should be fine to ease them into it - go by the weather to decide if it's a good day to bring them out. As they get used to it they can stay out longer and go out in cooler temperatures.

I raise my chicks outdoors so they're always exposed to cooler temperatures, so even by 2 weeks they willingly go without heat for extended periods of time.
