I would give them oral antibiotics asap. Fox mouths contain a shed load of very nasty bacteria. Deep wounds can look like they are healing but deep in the internal tissues an infection can fester. You will think they are getting better because the wound is healing on the outside and they seem bright, but in a week or two they could die of sepsis.
