Balut is not a breed. It's the name of the food: partially developed duck egg. Probably pekins. That's what a lot of balut is made from. Totally legal to sell in the us. I have a guy that wants to but 15 day duck eggs from me. I don't mind since the grown ducks would be food anyway, but I'm having a fertility issue right now so can't produce more than two or three at a time.Yes...the sign said they are Ballut eggs.
Must be a new breed.

As for an egg taste testing, I'll try duck, turkey, and chicken eggs tomorrow. I have quail but they aren't laying right now.
And as a note, an egg in the hay will not develop no matter how long it sits there unless a duck sits on it or it's really hot outside: 98-99+F.
