You might ask if they can order it if they don't stock it and have it shipped the next time they order from the company so you don't pay any extra shipping.

I've found that mom & pop feed stores are usually happy to special order the higher protein game bird feeds to get my business. I just have to make sure to let them know the week before I want the feed so they can get it into their next shipment.Been reading this thread very interesting and Lots of Good Info Thanks

I wouldn't call the bigger eggs sluggish. Bigger eggs just take longer to hatch. If you set small bantam eggs and jumbo RIR eggs in the same incubator won't the smaller eggs always hatch first? They all start with just one fertilized cell. It takes more time for cellular division to make a bigger chick, so the eggs just take longer to develop. Just like it takes longer to make an elephant baby as opposed to a human (bad analogy I know but it's what I could come up with on short notice). If you are aiming for larger quail you need to start with setting the largest eggs to hatch and just work with your incubator to devise a way for the eggs to work in the egg trays. Or maybe you don't mind the smaller size quail for feeding your falcons? I don't know what they would prefer. Maybe the larger quail have too much meat to waste when feeding falcons? When I first toyed with the idea of raising quail for my falcons I also was looking at the eggs for a food source. I lived in SE Asia for 4 years and both quail and the eggs were used for human consumption. My first pen of hens producing eggs for us to eat, the eggs were normal size, dropped into the egg trays with plenty of extra room. Made a batch of deviled eggs. My granddaughter had her first deviled egg during Thanksgiving last year. See she is allergic to eggs but can eat these quail eggs with no problem. Had to pickle some, then made a few dishes with them like the birds nest (hash browns with poached egg on top), bacon baskets, etc. I just love them but working with the tiny egg was getting to me, so the selective breeding started. Now with the larger quail egg I'm really having fun. Try eggs Benedict with a few. One problem I do see with the larger egg is hatching them. Not uncommon to hatch a day late and they seem "sluggish" compared to the smaller normal sized chick. I just had one hatch last night it has to have 2" legs on it. I'm calling it "stilts" because it stands so much higher than the other chicks that hatched out.
