Teacher Writes "Loser" On Students Assignments....

Psst it's "a violation of a student's rights to prevent access to toileting facilities". Use that wording, they'll know you're aware of the personal rights of students. They can't make you stay in class and wet yourself, and it's illegial to try.

At no time is calling a student "loser" warranted. I will, however, admit I called a student by a different "name." I was subbing, and couldn't read the name on one of the papers I had to hand back. I could see the student had tried to make his name "look cool," but I couldn't read it no matter how much I tried. So I called out, "Scribbles?"

I then covered the grade and quickly flashed the paper. The proper student came up and got his paper and told me it was graffiti, not scribbles, so I apologized to him and told him I couldn't read it, and so that's why I called out scribbles.

He was half laughing and then said, "Well, maybe I'll have to graffiti your car!" I told him if he did that I would know exactly who to tell the police to go after. It was a joking type of deal though, and all the students understood that. Moreover, I had these students many times before and I knew how much I could push that type of stuff. They were in ninth grade. Sometimes I really miss being in the classroom.

no but it'd be ok for me to punch his teeth out if he said it to my kids joking or not. That's a lesson there!!!!! Nobody messes with my kids in any inappropriate way.

I must confess this is my first reaction. The problem is even after having seen this before this posting it's my second and third reaction as well. What bothers me is that many kids wouldn't tell their parents. Even in the Christian school I sent my kids there were problems and not just with the teachers. However there were two teachers who were removed and I was not disappointed as I think it was answered prayer. Maybe we should all write to the school and let them know how we feel.

I may just do that =] I can record up to 10 minutes at a time for 60 minutes, the only problem is when it starts to record its a pretty loud beep

I have tried putting my phone on silent and turning the volume down but no matter what it beeps. I could cough to cover the beep though

look the phone up online and see if there's a way to disable the beep. If he hears it he may tag you for cell phone usage in school. Do you know anyone with a digital dictation machine? I've got one that is barely larger than a cell and can record for hours.

I will look it up tomorrow. I dont know anyone with one. I have never heard of them lol.

Wow; I cannot believe the reactions to this story. Maybe I should elaborate; this was a good kid who never got into trouble and this jerk wrote something nasty on his English paper. When the teacher was confronted by the student he became defensive and shoved the student who then decked the teacher. I should have included that the first time.

Sorry but you can only push people so far before they react. This guy was dealing with a hormonal teenager who lost his temper but the point is this teacher should NEVER have written what he did. I think he was lucky to keep his job...... he was a lousy teacher anyway.

Um the kids dad threatened a WHOLE lot more than suing the school for harassment; and yes it was justified to sue the school in this case. Remember this was also over 20 years ago before people became sue-happy. The school knew they were in the wrong so they just dropped their end of it.
