I got Chromium on the 2010 MacBook Pro. Plays youtube at 720p60 ok-ish. Can still web browse on it although the sharp edges on the wrist rest make it unpleasant.

Oh. That. It's Chromium-Legacy, specifically to run on old Macs like that one. It was fine while I used it, just a bit buggy and lots of refreshes at times.

is there a benefit to running chromium over a normal browser or were you just trying it out?

Most normal browsers don't support old versions of macOS anymore. Pale Moon is the only other one I know of that will run on 10.7 Lion and still has full support for the platform.

It's my first time trying this over Pale Moon and so far it's better.
